Operations of NG Platinum Trainer 8051

Program Entry.

This is the function selection screen indicating all the available functions:

As you can see, this graphical LCD module can display up to 8 lines of text with 21 characters in each line. Using the keyboard, you can easily key in program in assembly language. Since you see more lines, it is easy to follow the flow of the program.

Now you can view more of memory contents and you can edit memory locations. You can use all the arrow keys to navigate around the memory space.

You can see the contents of most of the registers in a single screen and edit the register contents.


Program Development

Program debugging is the frequently used task during application development. When you see more useful information, then you can understand and finish your programs faster. During debugging, you can see the contents of all the registers at the same time and keep debugging the program without leaving the command. In addition, you can do all of this in very few clicks.

As you can see, the most difficult part of the program development is made very much easier.


Program File management.

A serial EEPROM of capacity 64KByte is available on board to keep your application programs in storage with file management facilities. You can store a new file, delete any one or load one into the RAM area with ease.


Serial Port Testing

To experiment with the microcontroller's serial port, you need not take it to any computer. Built-in facilities are available, thanks to the SOC. You can activate the SOC's serial port for this task and then you can verify how the serial port of the microcontroller behaves during serial transmission under your program control.


Peripheral Testing

On board facilities are available to test major peripheral features of the microcontroller like Timers/ Counters, Interrupts and the I/O lines. Apart from all this, RTC and EEPROM devices connected with the controller also can be tested. Suitable point LEDs, Switches are available for an effective interaction with the microcontroller.

All relevant code snippets are made available as Demo programs for your convenience.


Diagnostic Facilities

Platinum trainers come with self-diagnostic capabilities to check the health and performance of the microcontroller, health of the memory area and the power supplies. At a press of a key, all these parts are properly tested and the test results are displayed for your reference. With these special features, you can test the operating condition of the trainer whenever it is required.


Expansion Features.

As you can see, the Platinum trainers come with enough space to accommodate two add on boards in the trainer itself to add more application specific circuits. This hardware can be permanently mounted in the board itself. Apart from adding two boards, you can expand off the board features of the trainer using a third connector.
